History of DELSU

DELSU’s journey began as a Government Teachers’ Training College during the colonial era. After Nigeria gained independence, it transitioned into a College of Education and later became affiliated with the University of Benin (UNIBEN). Following subsequent changes, DELSU emerged in 1992, established by the Delta State government under the leadership of Orogun Felix Ibru. Since then, it has become a renowned institution for tertiary education in Nigeria and beyond.
